Home > Events > Dorian McGowan's Knitting outside the Box I didn't have time to capture all his creations and its too bad that you can't hear the stories Dorian had to share about the creation of each one but you can see an enlarged view of each by clicking on the photos. Dorian doesn't work from a pattern, or even a plan for, that matter. He just starts by casting on some random number of stitches and then based on what he sees the fabric looking like, he then starts to get an idea of what it will become and begins shaping accordingly. Everything from hammered out Chock Full of Nuts cans to "composite" which he makes from wood chips and then paints, to carved wood blocks get incorporated in the final creation.
