Joy Sliding Flyer This new product is for the Ashford Joy wheel. Instead of hooks, set at predetermined locations to guide your handspun onto the bobbin, this sliding flyer moves up and down the flyer allowing you to guide the yarn more easily...you still have to stop to change the guide, but it is quicker to change and you can fill your bobbin more easily. The biggest advantage in my mind however is that if you are spinning novelty yarns or bulky/chunky yarns, the yarn does not get caught on all the little hooks. Also, even the new standard size sliding flyer uses bobbins that are 25% larger than the standard bobbins that the Joy comes with, so more yarn fits on each bobbin. And the Jumbo Sliding Flyer unit and it's corresponding bobbins hold a lot more yarn...definitely an advantage if you're spinning bulkier or textured yarns. Both sliding flyers have ratios of 6, 8, 11 and 14:1. Each sliding flyer comes with 1 bobbin. Extra bobbins available for sale separately.
