Type A Pygora Pygora fiber is wonderfully soft. The fiber comes from the animal created by crossing a pygmy goat and an angora goat. The fiber from these animals can range from a lustrous lock, similar to but finer than angora mohair, to a short and incredibly soft down approaching cashmere. Based on the fiber characteristics, it is called Type A (defined lock like mohair, but finer micrometer), Type B (between A and C) , and Type C (most like cashmere). My feeling is that f you want something like cashmere, just go for cashmere. If you don't want to wash and card or comb the fiber, go for the prepared Type B available below. Buying the unprepared/unwashed Type A will save you money and since Type A doesn't need to be de-haired, all you have to do is wash it, card or comb it and sit down and enjoy spinning it! 1 oz bags available in both Type B prepared and Type A unwashed/unprepared fiber. The scarf shown below I knit from 1 oz of some Type B I spun up last year. The scarf measures approx. 6"x 48".
White, Prepared Type B Price: $32.00 washed and carded
Unwashed Type A Locks: $8.00
