Cascade Yarns > Cloud These chainette yarns are everywhere this year....and for good reason! This type of yarn construction allows for a heavier yarn without the density of a traditional spin and because it creates air pockets in the yarn, the resulting garment is even more insulating! Perfect for a hat. This version is by Cascade yarns. Like the heavier version I stock by Debbie Bliss, this yarn is a merino and alpaca blend (70%/30%). Each skein features 164 yards and it knits at 4.5 sts/inch on a US 9. I enjoyed working with this yarn....it felt lovely between my fingers as I knit this hat. The hat pattern is a free download from Cascade, but after knitting it the way they wrote the pattern, I felt that the transition from ribbing to the twisted stitch cable was sloppy, so I've amended the pattern we send with the yarn so yours will be neater!
