This 100% merino wool yarn is hand-dyed like Koigu and Claudia Handpaints but features a "springier" twist and a slightly heavier gauge (5.5 sks/inch on US 6). It is lovely & soft and comes in an interesting range of color combos. Like the other Mirasol yarns (which purchase fibers from the Mallkini ranch which pays a fair wage to its' fiber raisers) a percentage of the profits from this yarn go back to building and sustaining a school in this poverty stricken area of Peru. 137 yards per skein. The princess waist 3/4 sleeve cardigan shown below is from the first Mirasol pattern book (for a size 36 chest it took 12 sks and for a 40" chest it takes 13 sks) and the shawl shown below (click on it for a clearer image) is a Fiber Trends pattern and used 3 sks.The baby sweater is knit from a pattern in the third Mirasol pattern book, which also features some other great kids patterns along with some lovely adult sweaters.
