Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool

This yarn by Elsebeth Lavold, is a great value yarn of 65% wool and 35% silk. It features a large color range with a subtle tweed. It knits at 5.5-6 sts/inch, making a really nice lightweight indoor sweater. With 192 yds/ball it's a great buy. The spring book for 09 features quite a few nice small projects (gauntlet gloves which my sister made fingerless) as well as several popular sweaters. The hat pattern shown below is a fun hat from the Vivian Hoxbro book Knit to be Square. The hat on the right is knit using Silky Wool. The shawl shown in the photo in the middle is 27" x 74" and took 7 skeins; the shawl shown right took 3 sks (available as a kit). Both shawls have a beautiful drape and are all-season shawls. The richness of the colors are better discerned if you blow up the photos. And there is now a chunky version of this same yarn available if you want to knit at a heavier gauge. Price: $8.95/ball
