Vermont Border Leicester Yarn A couple of years ago I did a run of Border Leceister wool from a local farm, kettle dyed it based on the seasons of Vermont and it sold out pretty quickly. I had that batch spun to a dk/light worsted gauge, so this year I decided to vary the batch by having it spun finer and handpainting it...just to be different. This fingering weight yarn is lustrous and is recommended for use for shawls (it has a great drape), gloves or wristlets (wristwarmers). Border Leicester is not the softest wool, but it has a lovely silkiness to it and it wears really well - no pilling!. Each skein has about 225 yards and it knits at 7 sts/inch on US 3 (although to knit the bias drop stitch shawl I used a US 6 for a more open, lacy effect).. Price: $25/skein I did not dye vast amounts of each color (other colors are available at the store), so don't order this for a large project like a vest or sweater as I won't have enough of a color for that....it's meant to be for small projects.
