Kathmandu Aran & Fingering

This lovely 85% wool, 10% silk, and 5% cashmere blend offers a classic donegal tweed. A perfect choice for a simple stockinette stitch sweater that needs a little interest in the fabric since the stitch isn't going to give you any! And yet with an interest that also doesn't distract if you want to work in some cables, as in the hat shown here!

It is available in both an "aran" and a "fingering" weight.

The Aran is recommended knit at 4-5 sts/inch on US 7-9 needle, each 100 gm hand offers 208 yards. It took just 1 skein to knit this hat.

The "fingering" is recommended knit at 7 sts/inch on a US 2-3 needle.  With a whopping 425 yards per 150 gm ball, one ball will be enough for some scarf and cowl patterns. I haven't knit up the store model yet as this just arrived 8/25/23 but have included a photo here of a cardigan pattern the manufacturer has made available in support of this yarn.

Price Per: $24.99

Another tweed yarn that knit at the same aran weight is  Homestead Aran . Or, if you like the idea of a tweed, but want a finer gauge, check out Arranmore Light.
