Vermont Sled Dog Milanese This yarn is spun using 20% Vermont sled dog (yes, we have quite an active "mushing" community here). The fiber is from a gorgeous team of Samoyeds. The funny irony about dog fur is that if you own a dog, you think there is SO much fur to keep swept up when you are housecleaning. YET... when you actually go to collect the fine dog down with the intention of making it into yarn, it turns out it takes a long time to collect enough of the fine downy undercoat fiber from dogs to have anything to spin, so here it is blended with border leceister, which gives the yarn a bit of luster. The scarf shown below is in a stitch called Milanese Lace. It knits up with a halo and becomes softer the more you work it and wear it and it doesn't smell like dog, but will keep you warm like your best friend! Kit includes yarn and pattern to make the scarf shown below, as well as a little information about the Samoyeds from which this fiber comes and a bit about dog fiber, in general.
