Buffalo

This down fiber actually comes from the Bison, sometimes called American Buffalo. Apparently the only true "buffalo" are indigenous only to Africa (the Cape Buffalo) and India (the water buffalo), neither of which produces a lovely fiber for knitting! Anyway, this yarn is available in a laceweight and fingering weight. Only the rich natural brown color is available. For those of you who spin (we also have this in roving) and are familiar with the micron counts, this fiber measures between 11 and 13 micrometers (cashmere is 15-16 just for your perspective and the lower the number the softer the yarn). The laceweight is a 25 gm ball, has 200 yds and costs $45. The fingering weight is a 50 gm ball, has 220 yd and costs $69. Each comes beautifully packaged with two 1 skein scarf patterns. One pattern is very masculine and the other a lace pattern as shown below.
