Sat & Sun Aug 1st & 2nd 10 - 5
Enjoy 2 full days exploring several nui (stitched), itajime (fold and clamp), and arashi shibori techniques to create wonderful patterns on pieces of cotton cloth.
From the sample cloths worked in class, I (and participants) have made bags, accessory pouches, credit card holders, trivets, mug rugs, pillow covers, and potholders! And some have incorporated them into collages, quilts, etc. I pieced the sampler kimono shown in the gallery together using pieces from my first shibori workshop over 15 years ago!
So you'll have pieces from class that can be used for various "end products", but the goal of this class is to explore various shibori techniques so you can experience the range of approaches, and importantly to learn good technique so you can then apply them on your own to garment size pieces at home.
Tho' most of the samples may show shibori dyed in indigo (the traditional blue, which I love), you will have an opportunity to choose from a limited range of chemical dye colors if you prefer a different color.
Class fee includes the dyes, thread, needles, and cotton fabric used for samples in class.
