Blue Faced Leicester by Juniper Moon

bfl-model

Lots of companies offer a "merino" wool yarn, but Juniper Moon Farms was one of the first to come out with a yarn spun strictly from the fleece of  BFL (Blue Face Leicester) sheep!

BFLs belong to the long wool class of sheep - which means that the fiber length is longer and the fiber is wavier, instead of crimpier. Both of these qualities make for a more durable (i.e. less pilling) yarn and also one that has a bit more "lustre" compared to pooled wool or merino yarn.

Because this yarn has both durability and great stitch definition, it is a super choice for a cabled  sweater. After all, you hate to spend the extra time knitting cables if you can't count on the sweater looking fresh and new years later!

202 yards per skein, this yarn is recommended knit at 4.5-5 sts/inch on a US 6-7
